BENTONVILLE, Ark. - The two biggest U.S. warehouse retail chains are limiting how much rice customers can buy because of what Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores Inc., called on Wednesday “recent supply and demand trends.”

I just happened across an interesting CNN article that says that genetic studies have revealed that humans were nearly extinct some 70,000 years ago. Following a drought, numbers dwindled to an estimated 2,000 beings. You can read the entire article at CNN.com.

With all of the interest and attention to the Democratic primaries, it is possible to imagine that various serious problems around the world are ameliorating. We see headlines about food inflation and oil prices are hitting record highs on a daily basis, but Iraq, despite the recent upsurge in violence (which is what tends to happen when religious militias are disarmed) recedes from the headlines, and developments in Iran disappear from the news. Nonetheless, Iran is not sitting still waiting

The namesake of Wendy's International reacted negatively today to news that the Dublin-based chain will merge with the parent of Arby's. "We're very disappointed," said Wendy Thomas, daughter of Wendy's founder Dave Thomas.
